About
I’m a yoga teacher, traveller, and therapist, and I started Wild Yoga in 2017 to bring together my love of yoga and exploration. My intention is to share meaningful experiences with people who want to live a little differently. I hope to inspire you to live a life that feels good from the inside out—whether that’s through my classes in Brisbane, eye‑opening yoga travel experiences, or personalised one‑on‑one yoga therapy sessions.
Finding Yoga
I remember after my first yoga class, the teacher told me, ‘welcome to your yoga journey’. At the time, I had no idea what she was talking about. But, wow, yes, as cliché as it sounds, yoga is a journey, and it’s a beautiful journey towards a full life of health, energy, love, and independence.
I stumbled into yoga when I moved to Samoa in 2008 with my young family. A small group of women needed numbers to keep their regular classes going, and they asked me to join. I didn’t feel like it was my ‘cup of tea’. But, I persevered. I was making new friends—and there was always cake after class! My love for my daily practice slowly crept up on me, until the moment, high on a cliff at the stunning Sua Ocean Trench, I finally relaxed into savasana, and I have been hooked ever since.
My life and yoga has allowed me to explore the world and experience so many awe-inspiring moments; but in the end, life is ALWAYS about the people—the little old man reciting poetry about the meaning of life in a tiny part of Sri Lanka; the young mum paddling madly towards you to sell a watermelon, balancing five little kids in a tiny dugout canoe; the American lady now in her seventies, who landed on a small island in the Pacific and built a resort with her whole heart; a man, who, with the odds against him, managed to learn English, obtain a degree and now spends his time continually helping others and making people smile—are now cherished friends. My quiet and humble teacher who gave up a very successful medical practice in India to study yoga and teach all over the world; or, the fellow travellers who have overcome their deepest fears or given up everything to follow their dreams. The stories are endless and inspirational.
When the opportunity to study Yoga therapy happened, it was a fantastic chance to travel to India to study and to work one on one with people - it was unbelievably perfect. Now, I am able to combine my experience in travel, yoga, and yoga therapy to share unique adventures with people around the world. And, I get to hear your stories, which is one of my all time ‘loves’.
By developing my own personal practice, I have tapped into my own inner strength and knowing. I am beyond grateful for the endless possibilities that the practice of Yoga brings, and to share this with others makes me ‘smile on the inside’. One of my teacher’s favourite sayings is “just practice and something will happen”, and it is true. By practising and experiencing Yoga, ‘something happens’, and you light a fire in you that will never dim.
